According to SelectHealth.org it is important that we not only recharge our cellphones to be sure they are working at their top performance, but that we do the same with our minds and bodies!

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD RECHARGE:

  1. It reduces stress
  2. It increases creativity
  3. You’ll feel better
  4. It might help you live longer
  5. It can strengthen your immune system

The JJR team kicked off the first quarter of the year with a trip to recharge! The team took a trip to the ever so beautiful, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was nothing short of amazing.

Hear from the team about the trip which rekindled so much inspiration!

Gaby Hernandez –

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. It’s a new opportunity to see new things and have a break from the day to day. I love to travel whether it’s by plane, car, boat, my own two legs you name it. But one the reason I enjoy traveling so much are the exciting new things and ideas that my mind creates being in a new environment. Our recent JJR Trip to Puerto Vallarta was no different. Being surrounded by amazing beauty and colorful landscapes everywhere I looked sparked wonderful thoughts and inspiration! From the unique restaurants we visited to the beautiful sights exploring the pacific ocean on a yacht, every experience offered new perspective and a fresh take of known facts. For example, we visited a gorgeous outdoor restaurant that was decorated with hanging lights and beautiful sculptures. It was a beautiful outdoor oasis of greenery and charm. We dined with live harpist and pianist taking request as our servers catered to our every need in a sophisticated and lovely way. Although I had eaten at many restaurant this experience was one that I was absolutely blown away from. It made me realize that inspiration is always around us and that new and innovative things are reachable. This trip was a true testament to how being in a new environment allows us to imagine and experience new and wonderful opportunities.

When I left the black, white and gray of Chicago suburbs, I boarded on plane to Puerto Vallarta and suddenly came into an explosion of vibrant color in sight, sound, scent, taste and touch. It was such a welcome and beautiful feeling.

Through our adventures at Canopy River, I learned that one has to take risks and adventures to live life. Going on the zip line reminded me how we tackle projects. Sometimes, we don’t make it through to the platforms—we slow down and become stuck. In these cases, we need a little help or to think out of the box to achieve our goals. As we rode dune buggies, we get dusty and messy traveling through unpaved roads. It’s OK to experience small messes because we know those become examples for us to get stronger in life.

The Mexican cuisine certainly represented the spice of life as we tasted different salsa, fresh seafood, healthy green drinks and even crepes.

I’m very, very grateful for Jackie to offer us such an opportunity as a way to celebrate the team’s hard work during the disruptive year of 2020 and for us to enjoy the richness of her homeland’s culture.

For my first trip to Mexico, this is one I will never forget! The trip really made me focus on creating an experience. The little things that seemed so special to me, that really made the trip above and beyond. The little things that bring your project, interaction, or experience to the next level. It was amazing to be out in nature and see all of the beautiful things Puerto Vallarta has to offer. I am excited to bring some of the inspiration back to the states into my daily activities. I thank you Jackie and JJR for making this amazing experience possible.  One last thing to share, while in Mexico I started trying to “capture” my favorite moments by being more aware of why it was a “favorite”. Making note of the 5 senses, I’d love to share with you one of those moments I captured!

On a boat in the ocean –

Sight – Waves, two beautiful rock formations, two other boats

Smell – Salt of the ocean

Taste – Cherry from a red wine

Feel – Swaying of the boat, warm sun, a breeze

Hear – Music, waves, laughing

I don’t think I’ll ever forget all of the pieces that went into making this a magical moment!
