What’s inside:

In her new book, Jackie S. Ruiz takes the reader on an informative adventure to understand how you can harness The Golden Five Framework for marketing success in the 21st century. Jackie uses real-life examples and facts to support her framework throughout this book. Jackie’s main force for research is her business, JJR Marketing, founded in 2006, celebrating 17 years of success in 2023. She and her team have helped hundreds of businesses over the past 17 years with this very framework.

Jackie’s book starts by introducing, or reminding, the reader of all the challenges marketing in the 21st century can present. Starting off she highlights seven traditional types of marketing that used to be the main focus for agencies, and then leads the reader to twelve new types of marketing presented by just the internet. Jackie notes one of the biggest changes due to the internet is “instead of the marketer always having to ‘reach out’ to the consumer, the consumer could now welcome ‘in’ content from the marketer on their computer screen.” The addition of the internet presents another issue for businesses today; which is being able to stand out where users have a world of options at their fingertips.

In order to stand out, Jackie talks about the ways to market with intention, from identifying your customer to knowing what they want in a business (and it’s more than just your product or service these days.) Jackie uses examples to showcase the difference things like story-telling, public relations, visuals and being intentional; can make in your marketing efforts.

Next Jackie dives (should I say “descends?”, since she is a pilot after all) into The Golden Five Framework. This is the same framework that Jackie created after seeing a gap in the marketing world. After working with a variety of clients she needed a way to explain that not all marketing was created equal and out of that came The Golden Five Framework.

The first of five is Foundational Marketing, Jackie starts off with an example to help the reader see where foundational marketing may be looked over. One client had a brilliant idea, but didn’t have the foundation in place to fulfill the order when people were ready to move forward. “As the name suggests, your foundational marketing is the body of marketing mechanisms you absolutely need in place for your company’s marketing efforts or your campaign to succeed.” Jackie goes on to list other foundational items in this category such as corporate branding, mission, vision, values, story, website and much more. These are all items that need to be well-thought out and decided on before a business starts marketing (or sometimes even sales).

The next types of marketing Jackie focuses on in the framework are:

Executional: “…the way in which [businesses] provide ongoing, regular communication to their captive and prospective audiences.”

Time-bound: “…marketing effort that must be initiated and consumed within a particular window of time.”

Innovative marketing: “…a marketing tactic sprung from pure inspiration.”

Cause marketing: “Cause marketing provides a key partnership between a for-profit and a nonprofit organization that yields growth opportunity and awareness for both.”

Jackie goes into detail within each framework and how it might be used for different scenarios. Showcasing the way that marketing efforts can be split into a framework of five has proved as beneficial to all those who have come across it.

In Conclusion, Jackie talks about the need for agencies to be able to utilize and explain The Golden Five Framework to businesses. Understanding that not all marketing is created equal, is a benefit for both the agency and the client. Jackie ends The Golden Five Framework with some free resources like an online assessment, marketing calendar, guides and other online resources hosted by JJRMarketing.com.

This book is a must read resource for small businesses, entrepreneurs, agency owners and students.
