The Swimming Chameleon

By Brenda Pascoe, Mission Manager at JJR Marketing

What’s a six letter word that’s scarier than ghosts? –Change. Transitioning from college into my big girl job was a scary thought but I knew I was ready to take a leap of faith. I was one of the lucky ones because, after my last final, I started working with JJR the following day! Things happened so fast fear itself did not get a chance to catch me. What I did discover, however, was how significant it is to learn to adapt quickly and gracefully to any environment or situation thanks to the “chameleon effect.”

I like to think we are all mysterious and colorful chameleons; exotics creatures with unique stories that get thrown into a pool of sharks. The key is to find your own way to graciously swim among the sharks while maintaining your authenticity. Transitions can be rough waters to navigate through, but they can also be windows of opportunities disguised as challenges. Yes, transitions can filled with uncertainty and inadequacies…but they also reveal beautiful hidden secrets.

Whether you are transitioning from a new stage in your life, career, school, or relationship, know that you are not alone. If you find yourself “stuck, ” don’t be afraid to ask for help! There are 7.4 billion people in the world and I guarantee you that a portion of these people are probably going through something similar right now. Speak up! Take a good look at where you are today and envision where you want to be. What needs to be done for you to get there? Create a plan, establish a timeframe and start running!

I hope that whatever kind of transitions you’re facing today they bring you wisdom and strength. I promise you, things get better! Just keep moving forward and keep your eyes on the prize. Get ready to transform into a brighter and wiser chameleon this spring.
